About the location

With the sea to the east, and lush green mountains to the west, Vasto, in the region of Abruzzo, is a delightful seaside town that is still firmly off Italy's well-trodden tourist trail. In fact, Abruzzo itself remains relatively unknown to the many visitors that set foot in Italy every year. And while it is probably one of the most stunning and culturally rich regions in the country, its charm lies in remaining off that beaten track and a well-kept secret you should try and get in on!

Abruzzo has a wide and varied local gastronomy with tastes and ingredients to suit all diets and palettes. From wonderful fresh pastas to meats and cheese made in the mountains to fresh seafood straight out of the Adriatic. And let's not forget the magnificent wine the region produces, including Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.

Vasto is the perfect base for your week of culinary delights. Today it is known for its beautiful beaches, historic town centre & rich history, and is home to many interesting and important churches and buildings. There's a great mix of restaurants, shops and piazzas scattered about to take in during your free time too.

Your accommodation for the week is in a family run 3-star hotel in the heart of the medieval city of Vasto, or a similar standard of accommodation. The hotel has modern, spacious rooms, Italian breakfasts daily, and all rooms are twin or double ensuites. The staff are known for being attentive and helpful and, as an alternative to getting around on foot, if you would like to rent a bike for a few hours, just let them know.

Your host and guide, Fabrizio, is native to the region and immensely proud of its history and heritage. His passion for keeping everything local means joining his family for cooking lessons, meeting local producers, using only locally sourced products - you will learn all of the Italian kitchen skills passed down through generations, sometimes in people’s homes and sometimes on farms.

Discover more about your host & guide Fabrizio and his family and friends.

This incredible Italian culinary adventure is not to be missed.
