About the location

Stay in a charming countryside mansion in the town of Mola di Bari, in the heart of the rustic Puglia region. There is so much history and breathtaking beauty around you, your days will fly by with awe and wonder. Although tucked away in rural bliss, the cookery school is a mere 28 kilometres from Bari/Palese International airport.

Celebrated and historic medieval towns are all within driving distance, including the stunning villages of Mola di Bari (known simply as Mola), and Conversano, as well as the port city of Bari, where you can see it’s eleventh-century Romanesque Basilica di San Nicola. Or perhaps, you may find yourself in one of the medieval villages of Polignano, Ancient Bari, or Monopoli. There are plenty of churches, castles, and medieval gems hidden around you to be discovered.

The 400 year old estate has enjoyed a long and rich history, which has been passed down to Rita. At the heart of the estate is the great stone vault, once used as an olive oil mill, serving now as a large living room. The thick walls of the country manor provide cooling relief during hot summers, and a cozy, warm refuge during the winter, permeated by the smell of burning wood coming from the many ovens and central fire.

The beautiful rooms at the cookery school are named after the women who have occupied them over the centuries. Each is adorned with only the highest quality of antiques, fabrics, and linens, reflective of their past inhabitants. Your meals will be enjoyed in the equally adorned and charming dining room, where you can sample great great grandmother’s homemade liquors, based on recipes passed down with love.

In your free time you can unwind by walking or enjoying some wine in the gardens, or tucking up with a good book from the library in one of the many enticing, old stone rooms. For the adventurous, follow one of the paths outside of the white washed walls and see where it takes you.

Spend a week in history as the past surrounds you, and the recipes passed through generations come alive during your hands on cookery lessons.
