San Jose or Liberia
Costa Rica has two international airports; Oduber Intenational Airport, in Liberia, in the province of Guanacaste, which is just 62 km away from Tamarindo and Juan Santamaria International Airport, in Alajuaela, close to San José, with a distance of approximately 300 km to Tamarindo.
Most students fly in to San Jose Airport but please note most flights arrive in the evening so we recommend you stay in San Jose for the night and travel to Playa Tamarindo the next day. Full transport details will be printed on your booking voucher.
Alternatively, you can travel by taxi from Liberia International Airport to Playa Tamarindo in about 1 hour. The journey costs around US$70.
